Alumni Professional Development Scholarships 

We are pleased to offer program fee credits towards the following certificates to UBC alumni. Scholarship offer cannot be combined with other discounts or UBC tuition waiver benefits. 

PMI CWCC Scholarship 

We have partnered with PMI Canadian West Coast Chapter to award two scholarships of $1,000 in course-fee credits to eligible PMI Members interested in Agile Leadership, Business Analysis, Change Management, Data and Marketing Analytics, and Project Management courses.

IIBA Vancouver Scholarship

We have collaborated with IIBA Vancouver Chapter to share in awarding one $1,000 scholarship in course-fee credits to eligible IIBA members interested in Agile Leadership, Business Analysis, and Data and Marketing Analytics.

ProductBC Scholarship

We have collaborated with ProductBC to share in awarding one $3,495 scholarship that covers the full tuition for the Product Management Bootcamp. Must be a member of ProductBC to qualify.

BIG Difference BC Scholarship 

UBC’s Advanced Professional Certificate in Behavioural Insights: One $4,000 scholarship towards tuition costs for the certificate. 

Fundamentals of Behavioural Insights: Two $800 scholarships towards tuition costs for the course. 

The Peter Frost Scholarship 

The Peter Frost Scholarship was established in 2004 to honour Peter Frost, an internationally renowned leadership researcher and educator at the UBC Sauder School of Business, and the founder of the Advanced Leadership Program.

The scholarship is designed to enable not-for-profit sector leaders to attend this unique, immersive program. Sponsoring organizations are offered a special program fee of $2,990 (plus GST & HST).

Application Requirements

Candidates must be senior level leaders in a non-profit organization, who are moving up to an executive position.

Prospective candidates must submit a formal written application to the Scholarship Selection Committee, describing:

1. Your professional background and the nature and scope of your current role within the organization
2. Why you feel you should be considered for the scholarship
3. The benefit you hope to gain from attending the program
4. How your attendance will serve your organization
5. To the best of your knowledge, what unique perspectives will you contribute to the class experience

Candidates must also send a letter of reference from their Executive Director or Board Chair.

BC Employer Training Grant (ETG)

All Professional Growth courses are eligible for grants of up to 80% of the total cost of training* with the ETG program. Please check the B.C. Employer Training Grant website for employer and employee eligibility, deadlines, and application process. 

*Up to $10,000 per employee, with a maximum annual amount per employer of $300,000 (per fiscal year, April 1 - March 31). 

Pacific Leaders Scholarship for Public Servants

Financial support up to $5,000 is available to BC Government employees for professional development training. Learn more

Student loans 

Our courses and programs are not eligible for BC or Canada Student Loans. 

Tuition tax receipts

Select UBC Sauder Professional Growth courses and programs except for GMAT, LSAT, CSM and PMP preparation courses qualify for non-refundable tax credits and education amounts. If you are eligible for a T2202 Tuition and Education Certificate, you will be notified by email in late February with instructions on how to obtain your tax receipt. Canada Revenue Agency requires your SIN to be included on the tuition tax receipt. Please ensure your SIN has been added to your student profile. 

 Many of our courses are open enrolment, meaning all you need to do is create an account and register. You must be able to speak, comprehend, and write fluently in English to ensure success in your chosen courses and programs. As a result, you may be required to submit official English Language test results as follows: 

• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no individual score less than 6.0 
• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) overall score: 90 with a minimum score of 22 in reading and listening, 21 in writing and speaking

Certificate Programs

Behavioural Insights Certificate 

You are required to complete an online application for the Behavioural Insights certificate program. The creation of a profile is not required to submit your application. Successful applicants will be given registration instructions at time of acceptance. 

Project Management Bootcamp 

Participants in the Project Management Bootcamp program are expected to have a minimum of three years work experience, preferably in a management role. You may be asked to provide information with regard to previous work experience prior to registration. 

All other certificates 

You can register for all other certificate programs on a course-by-course basis and complete the program at your convenience within two years from the start date of your first course. You are welcome to enrol in more than one certificate at a time. 

UBC Sauder Professional Growth offers different delivery styles to fit your learning needs. Some courses are taught in multiple delivery styles while others are delivered in one only. 

What to Expect

Technology requirements

A PC or Mac computer or tablet installed with a reliable internet connection and an up-to-date browser is required for all courses. For live online courses, it is beneficial to have a microphone and webcam, but you can participate using the chat feature if that’s all you have. You need to ensure your microphone and camera permissions are set to allow access to the online learning management platforms. 

How to get started with Online Learning

If you are enrolled in any type of online course, a welcome email with instructions on how to access the online Learning Management System (Moodle) will be sent to all registered student by 4pm PST on the course's start date. All your course information including course outlines, curriculum, and detailed assessment schedule will be found in Moodle.

The first time you log in you will be asked to create a new password, using the password reset feature.  UBC will never ask you for this password. 

Course Cancellations and Refund Policy

We understand that circumstances may change. Our cancellation and transfer policy provides flexibility and transparency while helping us maintain the quality and consistency of our professional programs.

0-10 Business Days Before the Course or Program Start Date

Cancellations made within 10 business days of the course start date are non-refundable and non-transferable.

11-20 Business Days Before the Course or Program Start Date

If you cancel 11 to 20 business days before the start date, you may transfer your registration to another course or program.

• If the new course or program is of lower value, a 5% administrative fee will apply to any refund or the difference.
• If the new course or program is of higher value, you will be required to pay the balance in accordance with our payment policy.

21 or More Business Days Before the Course or Program Start Date

Cancellations made 21 or more business days before the start date are eligible for either a transfer or a full refund, subject to a 5% administrative fee.

Payment Policy

Full payment is required at least five (5) business days before the course or program start date. After this date, any partial payment will not be refunded.

Graduation

To be granted your UBC credential, you must successfully complete required coursework and demonstrate competency in the program area by earning a minimum passing grade of 60% (68% for Behavioural Insights) in each course or “Pass” on courses that are graded as “Pass/Fail”. Upon satisfactory completion of the program requirements, you will automatically receive a digital graduation certificate. 

If you are a graduate of either the Business Analysis or Project Management programs, you may request a printed paper certificate for a $50+GST fee, please complete and submit the Graduation Request form to receive your print copy. Your credential and an official transcript will be mailed to you within three months of submitting your graduation request. 

Program Completion

All certificate courses must be successfully completed within two years from the start date of your first course.

Program Extension

Certificate programs must be successfully completed within two years from the time you commenced the program. Should you require additional time to meet your program requirements, please send an email outlining your program start date, expected program completion date, and your reason for an extension.

Assessment is based on participation, tests, assignments, and projects.  60%/C must be achieved in order to pass most courses or programs.

Academic Appeals

Students are to first address concerns with the instructor or online instructor. Appeals not resolved at this level are to be referred to the Professional Growth program leader for review. Should the appeal remain unresolved, the student may submit the issue to the UBC Sauder Professional Growth Appeals Committee for review. The student is responsible for submitting any relevant supporting documents electronically to professional.growth@sauder.ubc.ca or review of their case. The Professional Growth Appeals Committee will meet to consider the matter and a written decision will be issued within 60 days. 

Transcripts

Official Transcripts are available within 2-3 business days at a cost of $20 per transcript.

All transcript orders are non-refundable, and cancellations are not permitted. The learner must order the transcripts themselves using this form and if requested, UBC will send copies directly to other institutions on your behalf.

Digital Credentials

UBC Sauder Professional Growth is pleased to offer digital credentials that highlight your educational achievements and competencies that you can electronically share with your employer and colleagues.  We offer two types of credentials: “Badges”, which identifies specific course competencies achieved and “Certificates”, which indicates completion of a program and proficiency in a specific subject area.  

UBC has collaborated with Accredible to translate the learning outcomes you have achieved into badges and certificates using secure blockchain technology that is Open Badge compliant.  

Benefits of Digital Credentials

• Shareable – Celebrate your achievements by sharing your digital credentials by email and through social media platforms including LinkedIn, Meta and Twitter.
• Verifiable – Provides a quick and convenient way for your employer, potential employers, and peers to confirm your newly acquired skills in real time.
• Secure – The metadata is securely linked to a unique profile and housed on Accredible.

Upon successful completion of any approved UBC Sauder Professional Growth courses, you will be issued the applicable badge.  Students who also successfully complete a certificate program will be issued a digital certificate. 

Academic Integrity

UBC Sauder Professional Growth is committed to academic integrity and takes academic misconduct seriously. Penalties for cheating, plagiarizing or other academic misconduct may include dismissal from the program or course with a failing grade and no refund of tuition.

Professional Conduct

UBC Sauder Professional Growth fosters positive learning environments that respect the diversity of individuals and apply standards in keeping with appropriate conduct in professional workplaces. You are expected to adhere to professional standards of behaviour. In particular, the ability to work respectfully in a team environment and with other students, instructors and staff is essential. UBC Sauder Professional Growth reserves the right to require a student to withdraw from a program at any time for unsatisfactory professional conduct. In such cases there will be no refund of tuition.
